The draw will take place on Sunday August 4th 2024 at Friars Square Shopping Centre Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. HP20 2QF.

All ticket stubs (including any unsold tickets) and payment must be returned to 56, Isis Close Buckinghamshire HP21 9LY to arrive no later than Sunday 28th July 2024.

All persons who win the prizes will be notified by telephone where possible. Winners will be notified within seven days of the draw date.

All Prizes are non-transferable and no alternatives will be provided.

Definitions

‘Summer Raffle 2024’ means the lottery that is operated by Emmett’s Genies CIO whose  Charity Registration number is 1192340 

‘Closing Date’ means 23:59 on Sunday 28th July 2024 for the Draw.

‘The Draw’ means the draw for the Prizes described at Clauses 24–27.

‘Prize’ means any of the prizes as set out at Clauses 24-27.

‘Raffle Ticket’ means a ticket purchased for the Summer Raffle 2024.

‘Ticket Holder’ means a person who holds a Raffle Ticket in accordance with these terms and conditions.

Full terms and conditions

Entry conditions

To be eligible to purchase a Raffle Ticket, you must:

  • be 18 years of age or over;
  • be located in Great Britain;
  • comply with these terms and conditions.

A Raffle Ticket will be entered into the Summer Raffle 2024 if:

  • an application for such Raffle Ticket is received by us before the Closing Date; and
  • payment for such application is received by us before the Closing Date.
  • Each Raffle Ticket will be sold only at face value being £2.

We may, at our sole discretion, refuse to sell a Raffle Ticket to any person without giving reasons.

A Raffle Ticket may not be transferred from a person listed as the owner of the respective Raffle Ticket on our records to another person.

We’ll process your personal data securely to manage your entry into the Raffle. It will not be shared with any other organisation or individual. Please see our privacy policy for more information on how we look after your personal information. ‘We’ and ‘us’ mean Emmett’s Genies CIO, charity number 1192340.

Underage purchases

By purchasing a Raffle Ticket, you confirm that you’re 18 years or older at the date when you purchased the Raffle Ticket. If we determine that a Ticket Holder is under the age of 18 at the date the Raffle Ticket was purchased, the Ticket Holder won’t be entitled to any Prize and we’ll return to the Ticket Holder the amount paid by them for the Raffle Ticket(s).

We reserve the right to verify the age of any person seeking to purchase a Raffle Ticket or a Ticket Holder, at any time (including after a Raffle Ticket has been purchased), by requesting such proof of age as we may require.

Payment

By purchasing, or attempting to purchase a Raffle Ticket, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Payment for a Raffle Ticket/s can be made in cash (in person only) or by bank debit card. Charities Aid Foundation vouchers or other charity vouchers cannot be accepted as payment for Raffle Tickets. 

We accept no responsibility if the chosen method of payment is cancelled by you, your bank, or  debit card provider.

A person may not purchase more than £100 of Raffle Tickets unless approved by us upon special request. For approval, please contact the Fundraising Manager.

Postal entries

For postal entries, Raffle Ticket stubs must be completed and sent directly with the payment slip to: The promoter, Zoe Scullard at 3 Dubery Close, Stone, Buckinghamshire HP17 8RU to arrive no later than Sunday 28th July 2024.

If you’re purchasing a Raffle Ticket(s) for another person, you need to include that person’s details on the Raffle Ticket stub(s) when you return them.

No responsibility is taken for any Raffle Ticket or payment which is lost, delayed, or damaged in the post. Proof of posting won’t be accepted as proof of receipt.

Entry for the Summer Raffle 2024 is not available for telephone entries. 

Closing date

The Closing Date for the Summer Raffle 2024 is 23:59 on 28th July2024.

Applications for Raffle Tickets received after the Closing Date won’t be entered into the Summer Raffle 2024. 

Any payment for Raffle Tickets received after the Closing Date will be treated as a donation to us unless you expressly state otherwise on your application for such Raffle Ticket(s), for example by writing ‘not a donation’ on the Raffle Tickets you send to us. If payment is received after the Closing Date, Raffle Tickets won’t be considered as purchased or entered into the Summer Raffle 2024.

The draw

The Summer Raffle 2024 Draw will take place on August 4th 2024 at Friars Square Shopping Centre Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. HP20 2QF.

Raffle Tickets for the Summer Raffle 2024 Draw will be drawn randomly.

The result of the Summer Raffle 2024 Draw is final.

The Ticket Holders of the subsequent 9 Raffle Tickets drawn will each receive one prize listed on our prize list as set out in appendix I. 

Payment of prizes

All persons who win the prizes will be notified by telephone where possible. Winners will be notified within seven days of the draw date.

All Prizes are non-transferable and no alternatives will be provided.

A complete list of winners of Prizes will be available from 11th August 2024 by visiting our website. 

We reserve the right to request proof of identity from any person who claims a Prize.

A person shall not be eligible to receive a Prize if they don’t satisfy the criteria of these terms and conditions.

We reserve the right to withhold or refuse payment of any Prize if we have reasonable grounds to believe that these terms and conditions have been breached in any way.

If a Prize is transferred to a person who is not eligible to receive the Prize, the Prize shall be repayable or returned (as applicable) by that person to us on demand.

By entering the Summer 2024 Raffle, if you win a Prize you agree to us using your first name and home county on our website and other channels to promote the raffles we operate.

Unclaimed prizes

All Prizes must be claimed no later than 30 days from the date of the Draw.

Any Prizes which remain unclaimed after 30 days from the date of the Draw shall be forfeited and donated to us.

Please gamble responsibly 

We provide the right to self-exclude.

If you elect to self-exclude, you may not purchase our Raffle Tickets for the period of self-exclusion and won’t be sent any related marketing.

 

Limitation of liability

The liability of us to any Ticket Holder shall be limited to the amount of any Prize(s) due to that Ticket Holder following The Draw.

We shall not be liable:

  • to any person for our inability to contact you and/or award any Prize due to any errors or omissions in the details you provide or your failure to update these details if they change;
  • for any interest of whatever nature claimed by any person in a lost or stolen Raffle Ticket;
  • any matter beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit our liability for:

  • death or personal injury resulting from negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

If for any reason you aren’t satisfied with how we’ve resolved your complaint, you may decide that the matter be referred for adjudication by the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (‘IBAS’). IBAS can be contacted via their website, by emailing them or calling 020 7347 5883.

Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England.

Subject to your right to use an alternative dispute resolution provider, each party agrees that the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with this agreement or its subject matter or formation.

Raffle Complaints and disputes procedure

Emmett’s Genies CIO works within strict codes of conduct and any complaints we receive about any of our Raffles are taken very seriously.

The procedure for raising a complaint is detailed below:

Please provide full details of the complaint and any supporting documentation.

 

Your complaint will be acknowledged within five working days. All complaints are logged, and the outcome of any complaint is also recorded for future reference 

The Fundraising Manager will then make an investigation, and an update or the outcome will be advised to you within 30 days of receipt of the complaint.

In the unlikely event that a complainant does not receive a response within 30 days or is not satisfied with the response received or how it has been handled, the procedure in Step 2 will be followed.

 

Step 2

If for any reason you are not satisfied with how Emmett’s Genies CIO has resolved your complaint, you may decide that the matter be referred for adjudication by the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS).

IBAS acts as an impartial adjudicator on disputes that arise between betting/gambling operators and their customers after they have been through the operator’s own internal dispute procedures and if a deadlock exists.

As well as offering effective dispute resolution procedures, IBAS also check that operators have complied with the standards set by the Gambling Commission and with the IBAS terms and conditions of registration.

Tim Haines
Ambassador & Advisor

After taking a degree in zoology, Tim Haines started his career as a medical journalist and went on to work in science programming at BBC Radio and TV. After producing shows for strands like Horizon and Tomorrow’s World, he created the VFX driven natural history series Walking with Dinosaurs which is rated as one of BBC’s top 20 shows of all time.

He then left the BBC and set up the production company Impossible Pictures and created both factual and drama series such as Prehistoric Park and Primeval. He wrote several books to accompany these shows and was awarded an honorary fellowship at Bangor University.  Recently he created an immersive experience called Dinosaurs in the Wild which toured the UK but has now opened in Riyadh.

Zoe Scullard
Founding Trustee

Zoe has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. 

She has an extensive academic and practical background in the management of clinical placements and the support of student nurses with disabilities in practice.  

As well as being Emmett’s grandmother, Zoe has previously held positions as: 

  • Dean of Health Care (South), Health Education England 
  • Associate Dean Inter-Disciplinary Education, Health Education Thames Valley 
  • Principal Lecturer Practice Learning at Buckinghamshire New University  
Graham Pettit
Founding Trustee

Graham has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. 

He is an experienced banking professional. A highly accomplished strategic, performance, and risk management consultant.

Graham has also served as Trustee, Director and Chair of a small national UK children’s disability charity.

David Chang
Founding Trustee

Dave was the first recruited trustee of Emmett’s Genies and has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. He is the father of two children. Daniel, his son, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma and spinal cord compression trauma in 2018.

He is a Chartered Engineer with a background in English Literature and Creative Writing. He works as a project manager in the Engineering and Scientific Instrumentation industry. Dave is currently involved as an Associate Researcher in a UCL-led project in Paediatric Ambulatory Cancer Care.

Amy Scullard
Chair and Founding Trustee

Amy first had the idea for Emmett’s Genies in September 2019; she put her ideas into action and by January 2020 she had recruited four other fantastic trustees. On the 11th January 2020 they had their first official trustee meeting. 

Amy is the mother of the charity’s inspiration, Emmett, and therefore has lived experience of having had a child who is critically unwell and who also had a wish granted. Amy has two children, works in the NHS as a Neurological Physiotherapist, having qualified in 2009, and in her spare time, loves doing charity work, playing netball, travelling and spending time with her wonderful family.
