Ball Terms & Conditions

  1. All tables must be pre-booked and tickets paid for in advance of the event by individual guests or lead bookers. Details for all guests, including contact details and meal choices, must be provided by Tuesday 1st November 2022 at the latest.
  2. This event is suitable for guests aged 18+ only.
  3. No refreshments are to be brought onto The Spread Eagle Hotel premises. Ticket prices include
    Reception drink (either Prosecco or a soft drink)
    provision of a three-course meal with 2 bottles of wine shared per table. Additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from the Hotel bar.
  4. You agree that all funds raised from ticket sales and activities on the night are given to Emmett’s Genies CIO in full.
  5. No refunds can be given unless, for reasons outside of our control, the event is cancelled. Anyone who has purchased a ticket will be contacted as soon as this decision is made and notified of next steps.
  6. COVID-19:
    If you are displaying signs of COVID-19 or you have been diagnosed with it, you must NOT attend the Ball. You must comply with the COVID-19 safety measures put in place at the event and by the Hotel. Please follow Spread Eagle Hotel Covid-19 guidelines
  7. Guests may transfer their ticket to a substituted guest if they are unable to attend. Please contact by 5pm 11th November to change the name on the guest list. Please note menu choices cannot be altered after 1st November
  8. Emmett’s Genies CIO shall not be liable for any injury or loss, damage or inconvenience of any type or kind occurring as a result of attendance at the event (including, without limitation, any losses resulting from Emmett’s Genies CIO negligence), provided that nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit Emmett’s Genies CIO liability for death or personal injury resulting from Emmett’s Genies negligence or for any other type of liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
  9. Any guests damaging any part of the hotel or its or the CIO’s fixtures or equipment or any property or displaying any anti-social behaviour towards other guests, volunteers or staff or displaying any other disorderly conduct or causing a nuisance will be asked to leave the event immediately. At no time should drinks be taken onto the dance floor and no bare-foot dancing is allowed to avoid injury.
  10. Fire Safety: all guests must familiarise themselves with the details of the fire action notices displayed around the building and note the location of the nearest exit. In the event of alarms sounding, guests must proceed to the designated assembly point.

  12. We hope you’ll share your pictures from your event with us on social media. By doing so you are agreeing we can share these and use for promotional purposes. You also agree that any official photographs taken can be used by Emmett’s Genies CIO for any promotional purposes.
  13. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England.
Tim Haines
Ambassador & Advisor

After taking a degree in zoology, Tim Haines started his career as a medical journalist and went on to work in science programming at BBC Radio and TV. After producing shows for strands like Horizon and Tomorrow’s World, he created the VFX driven natural history series Walking with Dinosaurs which is rated as one of BBC’s top 20 shows of all time.

He then left the BBC and set up the production company Impossible Pictures and created both factual and drama series such as Prehistoric Park and Primeval. He wrote several books to accompany these shows and was awarded an honorary fellowship at Bangor University.  Recently he created an immersive experience called Dinosaurs in the Wild which toured the UK but has now opened in Riyadh.

Zoe Scullard
Founding Trustee

Zoe has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. 

She has an extensive academic and practical background in the management of clinical placements and the support of student nurses with disabilities in practice.  

As well as being Emmett’s grandmother, Zoe has previously held positions as: 

  • Dean of Health Care (South), Health Education England 
  • Associate Dean Inter-Disciplinary Education, Health Education Thames Valley 
  • Principal Lecturer Practice Learning at Buckinghamshire New University  
Graham Pettit
Founding Trustee

Graham has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. 

He is an experienced banking professional. A highly accomplished strategic, performance, and risk management consultant.

Graham has also served as Trustee, Director and Chair of a small national UK children’s disability charity.

David Chang
Founding Trustee

Dave was the first recruited trustee of Emmett’s Genies and has been on the Trustee Board since the charity’s creation in January 2020. He is the father of two children. Daniel, his son, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma and spinal cord compression trauma in 2018.

He is a Chartered Engineer with a background in English Literature and Creative Writing. He works as a project manager in the Engineering and Scientific Instrumentation industry. Dave is currently involved as an Associate Researcher in a UCL-led project in Paediatric Ambulatory Cancer Care.

Amy Scullard
Chair and Founding Trustee

Amy first had the idea for Emmett’s Genies in September 2019; she put her ideas into action and by January 2020 she had recruited four other fantastic trustees. On the 11th January 2020 they had their first official trustee meeting. 

Amy is the mother of the charity’s inspiration, Emmett, and therefore has lived experience of having had a child who is critically unwell and who also had a wish granted. Amy has two children, works in the NHS as a Neurological Physiotherapist, having qualified in 2009, and in her spare time, loves doing charity work, playing netball, travelling and spending time with her wonderful family.
